THE community of Ha Ramarothole in Mafeteng is at loggerheads over a controversial solar power generating project situated in the area and has threatened to stop the scheme with immediate effect should there be no positive response in two weeks’ time.

There is a lot of controversy around the project with residents accusing the project managers of frustrating the operations.

However, the Minister of Energy and Meteorology Mohapi Mohapinyane has assured the concerned residents that the affected members of the community will receive their due royalties, urging them to return to work.

He said people should not evacuate the place but rather find a common ground that will benefit all sides.

Mr Mohapinyane promised that the claims made by the residents will soon be investigated to ensure that they do not happen again in future.

On behalf of the community Peter Maoatsa said the project spearheaded by the minister has caused more damage than good.
