HIS Majesty King Letsie III has applauded local business magnate Sam Matekane for being awarded the Forbes Best of Africa accolade by the Foreign Investment Network (FIN) in collaboration with Forbes Best of Africa.

Congratulating the business mogul for his sterling and pace setting achievements, the King said Mr Matekane deserves this honour, adding that Lesotho is proud to have a citizen of his stature.

“We are proud as Lesotho to have a citizen of his calibre of leadership, a citizen of his calibre of generosity and a citizen with so much humility and kindness that he has shown to many people across the country and beyond, for many years,” His Majesty said.
For his part, Mr Matekane expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Forbes for the recognition, saying the award came as a huge but pleasant surprise to him.

He said he was not aware that his efforts would catch the attention of people who ended up awarding him the revered accolade.

“I do not have enough words to thank Forbes because this was really unexpected,” he said.

Mr Matekane was quick to show that Africa has the potential to do much more and thrive, adding that the continent needs to take charge for the betterment of its people.

The accolade is awarded to business people who have shown great commitment to building novel, strong and viable business empires.
