THE Ministry of Small Business and Cooperatives has introduced an urgent stimulus and backstop market access smart phone application called ’Marakeng App, designed to market locally produced agricultural products.

The application which is aimed at marketing products such as grains, fruits, vegetables, eggs, chicken and other food stuffs is expected to be launched soon.

According to a press statement released by the ministry on Thursday, the application has been designed in collaboration with Technomath Ltd (Pty) Lesotho and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Accelerator Lab support.

The App, it says will be helpful for producers, Micro and Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Cooperatives Societies during this period of the COVID-19 pandemic, by enhancing business operations without close contact.
It states that the office is telephonically open to guide farmers or producers and retailers in registering, using the ’Marakeng App.
MSMEs and Cooperatives societies are the backbone of Lesotho’s economy.
