MASERU – The Covid-19 pandemic is negatively affecting economies around the world and Lesotho is not an exception. The Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector in the country is perhaps one of the mostly affected and will need strong support and growth strategies going forward

In a move to meet such businesses half way during this period, the local chartered accountants and business advisers, PKF Lesotho has lined up a training on Covid-19 business recovery and growth strategies. The training that is scheduled for July 17 is expected to assist and provide participants with necessary skills to survive and grow their institutions in the era of the Covid-19.

PKF Lesotho is a member of PKF international and specializes in advising growing entrepreneurial/owner-managed businesses, listed companies, public institutions, local authorities and nonprofit organisations.The body offers world class knowledge combined with the resources and expertise of an international network.

Expected to attend the training are business owners, top management, marketing staff, finance and accounting staff as well as staff members involved in key business operations. “Although Covid-19 pandemic is a threat to many businesses, it has become a boom time for others. The training is intended to help the businesses to identify the opportunities brought about by the pandemic and therefore to plan their growth.

“We have noticed that continuity of many businesses, especially those in the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) category, has been negatively affected by the Covid19 pandemic. So, the training is intended to provide the tips to different businesses on how to survive under the Covid-19 conditions,” Sam Mphaka, a renowned local chartered accountant, said in an interview with Metro on Monday.

Mphaka who is also a business partner at PKF Lesotho said the training will help make the businesses identify their internal strengths and potentials which can be exploited to overcome the effects of the pandemic.
