THE Chief Executive Officer of the Water and Sewage Company (WASCO), Futho Hoohlo has been slapped with a 28-day suspension from active duty to give room for an internal disciplinary probe against him.

The decision to suspend Mr Hoohlo was made by the water utility outfit's board of directors during its 6th extra ordinary meeting held on Sunday.

According to a press statement released by WASCO’s public relations office on Tuesday, the board has appointed Thelejane Thelejane who is the company’s Director of Operations to act as CEO for the duration of the suspension.

Mr Hoohlo who is a former Vice President of the Senate was appointed sometime in 2019 to head the water utility body.

WASCO serves almost 300 000 people in the urban centres with potable water.
