MASERU – Lesotho has recorded its first Covid-19 related death, the Ministry of Health has announced.

The latest national update released on Wednesday reveals 43 new infections which place the national cumulative tally at 134 and recoveries have also reportedly increased from 11 to 20.
There has been a steady rise in the number of institutions affected by COVID-19 countrywide which have subsequently faced temporary closure to enable disinfecting of the facilities and isolation of staff.

Several other organisations recently affected include the Lesotho Network for People With HIV and AIDS (LENEPWHA), Vodacom Park, Letšeng Diamond Mine, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Foundation (EGPAF), Lesotho Post Bank (LPB), Queen ’Mamohato Memorial and Seboche Hospitals.
The latest cases are attributed to local transmissions and ministers were recently directed by the Prime Minister (PM) to conduct nationwide community outreaches in the wake of the current Covid-19 upsurge.
