LESOTHO has since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic last year in May reported a total of 651 coronavirus related deaths.

The National COVID-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC), the Government authority that is mandated to stop the spread of the coronavirus has revealed that the country stands at 21 433 positive COVID-19 cases out of about 21 987 specimen tested.

A report from the body shows that the global corona virus case load has topped 236.7 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.83 million and vaccinations soared to over 6.39 billion.
The report further shows that Maseru has the highest number of positive cases of the virus at over 77 000 while Berea and Butha-Buthe follow with over 40 000 and 23 000 cases respectively.
The Government has meanwhile increased vaccination stations across the country with the purpose of getting more people to be vaccinated for the pandemic.

This follows the launch of taxi ranks vaccine satellite stations which was launched by Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro.
Lesotho received its first batch of 36 000 doses of AstraZeneca in March 4 and 10 8000 doses of Johnson and Johnson (J & J) vaccine on August 7.
