MASERU - The office of Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro has established adhoc and standing ministerial committees to manage emerging crises and issues of public interest as well as promote inter-ministerial collaboration.

The office has issued a press statement noting that the committees shall elaborate their specific responsibilities and report to Cabinet on a regular basis.
The statement states that the office shall regularly monitor the work of the committees.
The adhoc committees comprise four sub-committees which include one that will investigate potential instability in the security agencies, the second will look into issues of human trafficking, and the third is the COVID-19 Task Force which is responsible for steering the fight against the COVID-19 infections and overseeing formulation and implementation of strategies against the virus. The fourth - the National Reforms Steering Committee – for which Dr Majoro and his deputy Mathibeli Mokhothu are alternates, is envisaged to support and expedite the completion of Lesotho’s reforms process.

There are also standing committees that comprise six sub-committees such as the finance and development mandated to provide guidance or strategic direction through alignment of budgets and monitoring budgetary and operational performance to fulfill management obligation in respect of efficient and effective use of government resources.
