LESOTHO’s first Cardinal, Sebastian Koto Khoarai Oblate of Mary Immaculate died on Saturday at the age of 91, after serving the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) for 65 years.

According to the church, the late cardinal was recently hospitalised before he succumbed to an undisclosed illness on Saturday.

According to a press statement released by Archbishop Tlali Lerotholi, details of his funeral will soon be communicated.

He was ordained cardinal in January 2017 and given the title of Saint Leonard of Port Maurice in Acilia - a diocese of Rome.

Rightfully he was to be called Cardinal Priest of St Leonard of Port Maurice in Acilia.
He was among the 24 cardinals in Africa who formed part of the 226 of the RCC.
