IN a bid to allow smooth construction of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, the Hilton road, which connects the Mpilo Boulevard and Kingsway Road has been closed effective from Saturday midnight.

According to a press release from the Maseru City Council (MCC), the road will remain closed until the construction of the hospital has been completed.
The press statement further shows that the road will only be opened for motorists who will be entering the Metcash Building through the Kingsway Road, appealing to members of the public to use other roads until the construction is finalised.
Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro led the sod turning ceremony of the China-aided Maseru district hospital earlier in February.

Upon its completion, the hospital is expected to provide services such as eye care, cancer, tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases treatment as well as other health service requirements.
The state-of-the-art health facility will have at least 200 beds for admitted patients.
During its construction which is expected to be completed within 30 months, about 100 jobs will be created for Basotho.
