THE Ministry of Public Works has announced that although certain services it offers will be suspended during the two-week lockdown that ends on January27, there are however others that are classified as essential which will be on standby.

One such department, a statement from the ministry says is the Department of Building Design Services whose Buildings Maintenance section will remain open in order to deal with emergencies on government buildings.

“Our country is experiencing torrential rains since towards the end of 2020 till now, roads and bridges are badly damaged and in some places, we get mudslides and rock falls that completely block the driveways,” states the release.

It adds that the Roads Directorate is in the processes of procuring the contractors that will specifically attend to the emergencies caused by the heavy rainfalls.
