LESOTHO has been entrusted with the mammoth task of leading the regional road funds body, the ARMFA Southern Africa Focal Group (ASAFG) following the appointment of Nkekeletse Makara as the outfit’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Makara’s recent appointment during the regional meeting held in Lusaka Zambia is seen as a great achievement for the Road Fund in Lesotho.

He will be part of the Executive Committee of the regional component for another two years after serving as the outfit’s Vice Chairperson for the past two years.

He succeeds Professor Angelo Macuacua, who heads the Road Fund Mozambique.

In his maiden keynote address, Makara expressed his gratitude for being entrusted with the mammoth task, underscoring his commitment to performing to the best of his ability to better lead the organisation.

He said he learned a lot during his tenure as Vice Chairperson, adding that the Southern Africa Focal Group is one of the strongest in Africa, due to the solidarity that reigns within the member states.

“I believe that united we can achieve a lot through our consolidated efforts as the region to ensure value for money in undertaking our mandate to finance maintenance of roads within our various countries and within the region,” Makara said following his appointment.
