Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro
This he said at the sod-turning ceremony of the construction of the dam on Thursday.
“Over 25 000 people are going to benefit from this project which is going to take between four and five months to complete” said Dr Majoro.
He said besides the dam in Thaba Bosiu, two similar dams are going to be constructed in Ha Setene in Leribe and Ngojane in Butha Buthe, adding that their sod turning ceremonies will be held sometime next month.
Dr Majoro applauded the Minister of Finance and his Water Affairs counterpart for ensuring that the projects took off.
Speaking at the same event, the Minister of Water Nkaku Kabi said the projects should have taken off a long time ago, adding he was hopeful that this time around, they would not fail like it happened in 2017.
“I hope the challenges we faced during the first trial in 2017, have been taken care of,” he said.
Mr Kabi said the project comes with opportunities and betterment of lives as water will be distributed to households and not to public taps like it used to be.
“Everyone will have access to clean water and will be using water as they wish because the water will be available at their doorsteps.”
