LIKUENA striker, Thabiso Brown has his eyes on winning the golden boot after hitting the ground running with Empress Minera Huanuni in the on-going play-offs to win promotion to the Bolivian Premier League.

The forward has been hogging the headlines for the right reasons in the South American country as he leads the goal scoring charts with 12 goals in nine matches.

Brown is vying for the golden boot with Argentinean Matias Vicedo and Colombian Yerson Gutierrez, who are on 10 and eight goals respectively.

“I would be very happy to win the race for the golden boot, but my main focus now is to help my team advance and eventually win promotion to the premier league,” he said from his Bolivian base.

“If my goals or assists can be that important to the success of the team, then I’m happy if they can play a role in helping us succeed in our mission,” he added.

The 26-year-old former Kick4Life marksman has also played his football in Peru since leaving Lesotho in 2017.

He was part of the Likuena squad that played at this year’s edition of the COSAFA Cup hosted in South Africa in July and was used as an impact player coming from the bench in most of the games.

“We are playing the first leg of the quarterfinals this Saturday in the playoffs for promotion, and it would be a bonus to add another goal to help my team advance,” he also said.

“It won’t be easy, but with hard work anything is possible. Being the top goal scorer with 12 goals in nine games is huge motivation for me and will be looking forward to continuing where I left.

“It is a do or die for us because winning promotion is our biggest goal as a team. We want to win promotion to the premier league,” he said.

Brown has been capped seven times for the senior national team and scored his first goal against Botswana in 2015, which helped Likuena eliminate the Zebras from the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
