VETERAN marathoner, Mabuthile Lebopo is part of a team of athletes that will represent Lesotho at the Sanlam Cape Town marathon in South Africa where a cash prize worth M265 000 will be up for grabs on Sunday.

Other members of the team scheduled to compete in the elite section include Namakoe Nkhasi, Tšepo Mathibelle, Lebenya Nkoka, Lehlohonolo Raletebele, Ramolefi Motsieloa, Morabaraba Sello, Kabelo Lesia and Tebello Ramakongoane. 

Teboho Noosi and Thabo Moitšepi will compete in the great run which is different from the road run.
According to Tšeliso Pheta, President of the Federation of Athletics Lesotho (FALE), Ramakongoane will make his long awaited marathon debut on Sunday after an impressive showing in short distance races.

“He has resolved to try a hand in long distance running, saying he will spring a surprise when least expected,” he said.
The women’s category will be represented by ’Makampong Letsie, Lineo Chaka and Mokulubete Makatise.
Pheta said all the athletes are in good physical and mental shape, adding they will not only add numbers at the prestigious event. 

“The majority of these athletes are in the long list of Team Lesotho which is set to compete in next year's Commonwealth Games to be hosted in Birmingham, England and seven of them have already qualified for the international event,” he said. LeNA
