Matekane Group of Companies (MGC) will on March 23 hold sports extravaganza comprising Bocheletsane half marathon and soccer spectacular at Mants'onyane in Thaba-Tseka district. MGC Consultant, Baba Malephane, told the media briefing in Maseru on Tuesday that prior to the main event, “there will be a build-up match on March 16 where there will be two matches between the top four premier league teams; Matlama, Lioli, Bantu and Kick4Life. The two winners will then proceed to play against Mants'onyane and Thaba-Tseka on March 23 during the soccer spectacular.”

Malephane said there would be no prizes for the March 16 matches, but the teams would only share gate takings equally after deductions of logistics. “During the soccer spectacular in Mants'onyane there will be no prize money but appearance fee for all the four teams where each team will get M100,000. On March 16, the first match will be between Matlama and Kick4Life while the second match will be between Bantu and Lioli,” said Malephane.

According to ‘’Mamotake Matekane, MGC Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing, “this event is part of our corporate social responsibility. Since Ntate Matekane was born and bred in Mats'onyane, he found it fitting to give back to the community where he grew up.” She said people from all districts of the country, especially the community of Mantsonayne, would be expected to partake in the half marathon. “This is also to help Basotho enhance their talents so that they can get to the level they want.”
