Maseru – The Mazenod-based Swallows FC scooped the A Division Top 8 Cup after beating Manonyane FC of Roma 3-1 during the match played at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena on Sunday.

Swallows, which will campaign in the Econet Premier league in 2018/19 soccer season after winning the Southern Stream were presented with the trophy, gold medals and M8,500 prize money.

Maswaiswai, as the club is affectionately known, reached the finals after eliminating Lifofane in a 4-3 penalty shootout following a 0-0 stalemate in regulation time while Manonyane beat Galaxy 1-0 in the semis.

Manonyane settled for silver medals plus M8,000 as losing finalists while Lifofane went home M6,500 richer after finishing third after they edged Galaxy by a solitary goal. Galaxy got M4,000 and bronze medals as a consolation prize.

There were also individual prizes for outstanding players in which the Goalkeeper of the Tournament went to Teboho Khoabane of Swallows FC, Top Goalscorers - Bokang Matobo (Manonyane FC) and Lehlohonolo Mothetsi (Swallows FC) - scored three goals each.

The Player of the tournament went to Tsotetsi Mabitle (Manonyane FC). Galaxy, who also got promoted after winning the Northern Stream, will clash with Swallows next weekend for the Champ of Champions.
