THE office of the Clerk to the National Assembly has rubbished allegations that the house shall open for business on Friday.

The office further showed that the real date of opening shall be announced only through a government gazette.

This, after rumours circulated that the 11th parliament would open for business on Friday this week.

“The office of the Clerk to the National Assembly wishes to inform the members elected to the eleventh parliament and the nation at large, to dismiss rumours that members will be sworn in on Friday October 21,” the office of the Clerk to the National Assembly said in a press statement released on Wednesday.

Instead, the public has been advised to wait for the government gazette to pave way for such processes.

“We are all advised to wait for the usual legal instrument through which His Majesty the King will appoint the date and time to summon members of the eleventh parliament for the election of the speaker and deputy speaker and swearing-in of members,” the press release added.
