THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the postponement of the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup due to the COVID-19 impact and released a new international calendar.

According to a statement released by CAF on Thursday, the Emergency Committee has announced that the World Cup qualifiers that were set for June have been rescheduled for September as in a bid to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.
CAF in consultation with FIFA, said the major reason for postponing the CAF qualifiers for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is to consider the current challenges caused by the impact of the pandemic and to ensure the optimal playing conditions for all the teams that will take part.
