Matlama, Bantu share spoils
Matlama against Bantu
As expected, Matlama and Bantu’s Sunday meeting began with a lot of flames. The first minutes of the game saw most of the action centred in the middle of the park, with a number of attempts at goals per team.
The first threatening attempt came from Bantu. It was a ball that was well built up from the back line to the box straight and was shot by Lits’epe Marabe who opened the scoring on the sixth minute into action.
After the goal, Bantu dominated the play and made several aggressive attempts at the opponents’ goals.

At halftime, the visitors were still comfortably in the lead.
Five minutes after the break, Bantu’s Tsietsi Khooa handled the ball in the box and Matlama earned a penalty which Jane Thabants’o slammed home. Thabants’o was thereafter taken off and replaced by Lekhanya Lekhanya.
Lekhanya brought in a lot of energy with him and kept the visitors busy on their toes. At the last whistle, the score-line still remained at one all.
“It was tough game. The two teams gave each other a good run. I think it’s a big boost for the next match. You win some and lose some, but in the next game you will see a better us," Matlama head coach Charles Banda said in post-match interview.
