President of the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC), ’Matlohang Moiloa-Ramoqopo has retained her position as the Second President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) during the continental body’s elective general assembly in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday.

The positions of First and Second Vice-Presidents ran unopposed. Joao Da Costa Alegre Afonso of Sao Tome and Principe also retained his role as the association’s First Vice President.

Ahmed Hashim of Sudan was elected as the Secretary General.

Molioa-Ramoqopo is also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after she was elected to the global Olympics governing body in 2019.

ANOCA’s President (ATR) Mustapha Berraf will be serving a second term at the helm of the body after defeating fellow IOC member Lydia Nsekera, for the second time.

LNOC Public Relations Officer Moshoeshoe Molapo could not be drawn to comment on the elections because he said he was not yet familiar with the results.

Moiloa-Ramoqopo was elected into the LNOC in 1998 when the IOC called for women inclusion in the National Olympics committees.

She was first elected to ANOCA in 2014 as the Fourth Vice President and served in that role until 2017.

She is also the Chairperson of ANOCA Gender Equality Commission.
