VODACOM Premier League pacesetters Matlama have opened a 13-point gap ahead of second placed Bantu in the race to be crowned champions of the 2020/21 season after beating Likhopo 2-0 in the Maseru derby at the weekend.

Tse Putsoa have been ruthless in the new year registering four victories in a row to augment their chances of reclaiming the league championship from A Matšo Matebele.

Makume Theletsane was once again among top goal scorers along with Teboho Pita as the Sea-Point-based outfit registered a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Red Army for their 18th win from 22 matches played so far in this campaign.

Matlama are now on 56 points while Bantu have 43 with two games in hand after their match against Lijabatho was postponed due to heavy rains and an unplayable pitch in Morija.

In other matches played over the weekend, Tšoarelo Mokoaleli scored the only match of the game as LMPS got the better of LDF in another high-profile league match.

LDF, who were at one stage during the season, in the race for the league title have lost form and now find themselves in fifth position after losing several matches in recent weeks.

A battle between former premier league champions, Lioli and LCS ended in a goalless stalemate as Tse Nala returned to their ground in Teyateyaneng for the first time in ages.

The two teams are also currently tied on 38 points though LCS have a better goal difference and are in third position while Lioli take fourth position.
